(1 Corinthians 12:3; Romans 10:9) Jesus is Lord.

When Jesus appeared to the disciples after his resurrection, Thomas declared, “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:28).

From that time on, to declare that Jesus Is Lord was to confess that Jesus was God.

In Acts 10:36, Jesus is the “Lord of All.” In Revelation 17:14, Jesus is the “Lord of lords.” In Matthew 28:18, Jesus has “all authority in heaven and on earth.” Philippians 2:9-11 tells us that at his second coming of Christ, “Every knee will bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.”

As the saying goes, “We must believe in Jesus Christ as both Savior and Lord.” In other words, we can claim Jesus as our Savior, but not come fully under his kingdom authority as our Lord.

As Romans 10:9 says, “If we declare that Jesus is Lord, we will be saved.” To truly believe in Jesus is to submit to his will and obey his guidance. As Luke 6:46 makes clear, “Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord’ and do not do what I say?”

Jesus is Lord of all of reality. He is not just Lord over our private individual lives, he is Lord over the entire universe. Nothing exists that is outside of the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Have you totally surrendered your will to live under the Lordship of Jesus? Or, do you just like him as your Savior alone? Do you just see Jesus hanging on a cross? Or, do you also see him as the ruling Lion of Judah.

This is what the resurrected and exalted Lord says to us in Revelation 1:17-18, “Do not be afraid! I am the First (Alpha) and the Last (Omega)! I am the Living One! I was dead, but now I am alive for ever and ever! I am the one who holds the keys of Death and Hades (the realm of the dead).

Jesus is our victorious Lord! Do not be afraid!
