(2 Corinthians 13:8) We live for the truth alone.

This proclamation of Paul is extremely bizarre to the ears of our postmodern, pagan culture.

We live in a day when very few people believe in objective and universal truth.

They believe “truth” is the product of an individual’s feelings and orientation.

They don’t live for the truth.

They believe they are the truth.

Many, if not most, people reject the idea of truth because they do not want any restraint on their sinful passions and actions.

To live outside of Jesus Christ is to live a life of lies.

God’s truth destroys our lies.

In 2 Corinthians 13:8, Paul does not say that he simply believes in the truth, but that he lives for the truth.

Truth was the complete focus of his life.

For Paul, truth was not an external and abstract list of rules that he perfected.

Truth was an internal power that transformed his character and inner life.

Jesus told us that we are to worship God in Spirit and truth.

We must daily digest the biblical truth.

Truth must become an internal power that transforms our thinking, emotions, and actions.

Christian maturity occurs when we allow the Holy Spirit to internalize truth within our lives.

When we live for the truth, we spread the truth, contend for the truth, and will even die for the truth.

Biblical truth is not simply a Bible verse; it is a holistic worldview.

Biblical truth is not merely an individual matter, for it also affects families and civilizations.

Do you simply intellectually believe the truth?

Are you daily living out the truth?

Is truth simply the words on the pages of the Bible?

Are you digesting and internalizing truth into your heart?

Let’s commit ourselves to daily worshiping God in spirit and truth.

Let’s live for the truth alone.
