(2 Corinthians 4:16) Our inner life is being renewed day by day.
As Acts 2 reveals, when Jesus ascended into heaven, and was enthroned with God, the Holy Spirit was poured out upon the world.
The Holy Spirit now is the presence of Jesus in the world.
At a personal level, it is very common for us to say that we “received Jesus in our hearts” when we became Christians. This in general isn’t wrong, however it is more biblical to say that we “received the Holy Spirit in our hearts” through our faith with Jesus.
We are internally born-again through the indwelling of the presence and power of the Holy Spirit.
God gives us a new heart. As 1 Corinthians 6:19 tells us, “Our body is the temple for the Holy Spirit whom you received from God.”Whoever is united with the Lord becomes one with him in the Holy Spirit” (1 Corinthians 6:13). 1 Corinthians 6:19 is an amazing Bible passage, “Whoever is united with the Lord becomes one with him in the Holy Spirit.” “We live by the Holy Spirit” (Galatians 5:25). The apostle Paul say in Ephesians 3:16-17, “I pray that out of his glorious treasures he will strengthen you with power through the Holy Spirit in your inner being.” Because the Holy Spirit lives within us, 2 Corinthians 4:16 says, “Even if our body is wasting away, our inner life is being renewed day by day.”
Christianity becomes quite static when we think somehow the historical Jesus lives in our hearts. However, the Bible is clear, it is the Holy Spirit that is the presence of Jesus within us. This is why our inner lives should be not be static, but dynamic and alive.
Do you live each day feeling the Holy Spirit active within you, empowering you?
You should. If you don’t, ask yourself why?
