(2 Peter 1:3) God’s power has given us everything we need to live a godly life.
If we try to live a victorious Christian life in our own strength, we will fail. Our faith must be grounded in God’s power, not our own will-power and self-efforts.
It is only through the indwelling power of God’s Spirit and supernatural gifts that we can live a godly life that pleases him and ministers to other people.
God’s power—his active gifts, enablement, provision, and sovereignty—is everything that we need for a fruitful and growing spiritual life.
When we try to live a life independently from God’s presence, we only spiritually decline and wither up.
Godliness is not simply our good behavior, it is an impartation of God’s character and goodness within our hearts. We can’t produce godliness; we must receive it as a gift.
It is only when we fully surrender our own self-dependence, self-will, and self-pride that we are empowered with the spiritual blessings and resources of the kingdom of God.
God’s power is a free gift, it is not earned. It is by God’s free grace that we are internally strengthened and inspired to live a bold and obedient life.
Courageous Christian living does not automatically happen when we are born-again in Christ, it requires us to continually depend more and more on God’s imparted spiritual power each day.
We must not try to add anything else!
It is important to emphasize that God’s power is not magic or automatic power. God’s power is relational power.
God’s power is imparted to us through our dynamic heart relationship with him. God’s power is imparted to us as we relationally and continually abide in him.
