(Colossians 1:10) Please the Lord in every way.

The phrase in Colossians 1:10, “please the Lord in every way,” means to please him in every aspect of our lives, in all we say and do. In 2 Corinthians 5:9, the apostle Paul tells us that his goal in life was to please God.

This seems impossible to us, because we too often think to please God means we must perfectly keep a list of religious rules. We think way too much about what we “shouldn’t do.”

To please God, however, has nothing to do with trying to follow a bunch of legalistic rules, with the hope he will be pleased with what we accomplish.

Biblical Christian living is all about the attitude, motives, and passion of our hearts toward God, not external religious performances.

God’s focus is on the condition of our hearts. The only way we please God is by stop trying to earn his acceptance, and authentically love him from our hearts; to love him with an inner passion.

Let’s recenter our hearts to worship God in every aspect of our lives, in all we say and do. Worship him in our daily routines, and even in our mundane times of life.

Let’s live a lifestyle of heart-felt worship in both our private and public lives. It is our lifestyle of heart-felt worship that God is truly pleased with us.

Let’s pray Psalm 19:10 today, “May the meditations of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.”
