(Galatians 5:1) It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.

The salvation of Jesus Christ is all about spiritual slavery and spiritual freedom.

This is not hyperbole. It is a fact of being in one condition or the other. When we lived in unbelief and rebellion against God, we were enslaved to the power of sin and its consequences.

We were literally spiritual slaves.

Too often we think our life before surrendering to the Lordship of Jesus Christ was simply the consequences of our bad decisions. No, we were enslaved and in bondage to our own fallen nature and demonic spirits.

We were in a no better situation than literal slaves.

When we truly surrender our lives to the love and grace of Jesus Christ, we are set free from our spiritual bondages. As Galatians 5:1 tells us, it is for freedom that Christ has set us free.

We were set free from our inner sinful bondage, demons, and our thinking that we can live our lives without God and without severe consequences.

With all this in mind, as Christians we must stand firm in the freedom that God has given us in Jesus Christ—delivering us from spiritual slavery. He has redeemed us. He paid for our freedom by dying on the cross in our place. Jesus took upon himself our spiritual slavery to sin. Our salvation and deliverance is all about grace.

Everyday, Satan and our own fallen flesh is trying to pull us back into the old life of spiritual slavery.

We can’t live a life of neutrality. We must engage in a spiritual battle fought in the grace and freedom of Christ.

We must focus our lives on the spiritual freedom of being born-again by the power of the Holy Spirit.

We must not waver.

We must not compromise.

We must not allow ourselves to slip back into the old ways of our thinking and our destructive, sinful impulses.

Are you taking your spiritual freedom in Christ for granted?

Are you standing firm and strong in your spiritual freedom in Christ?

Are you allowing Satan to draw you back into spiritual slavery, or are you standing strong in the freedom that God has given us as a free gift?
