(Hebrews 2:1) Do not wander away from the faith.

One of the main challenges for Christians today is that we live in a very fast-paced, modern world.

Our days are filled with noise, emails, and cell phones.

As a result, we hear a lot of biblical truth, but then we are pressed to quickly move on with our busy lives.

We hear biblical truth and then easily forget it.

Just think how many Christian sermons and podcasts you have listened to but have forgotten what was said.

Hebrews 2:1 emphasizes that we must stay alert to the truth we have heard, or else we are in danger of wandering from it.

We are in danger of simply forgetting it.

We hear truth, but that does not mean that it automatically becomes part of our lives.

The seeds of biblical truth are never really planted deep into our hearts where they can grow.

Simply hearing many truths in the Bible does not mean they internally change us.

If we are being honest, we often allow truth to go in one ear and out the other.

We must take time to assimilate and absorb the truths about God and Christian living that we hear into our daily lives.

The way we internalize truth into our lives includes four basic elements:

  1. Thinking about it (meditating on it, chewing on it).
  2. Talking about it with others (conversation).
  3. Praying about it (asking the Holy Spirit to bring life to the truth we hear).
  4. Putting it into practice (applying it to how we live).

Implementing these four principles will lead to internalizing biblical truth so that our hearts are nourished and mature.

I know our lives are busy, believe me.

Yet, let’s do our best to digest and internalize the biblical truths we read and hear.

Truth internalized into our hearts is what keeps us walking down the straight path of Jesus Christ.
