(John 6:37) Whoever comes to me I will never turn away.

John 6:37 is an amazing promise from Jesus that we all need to internalize.

This is a proclamation of freedom.

These words reveal the heart of God.

Although many of us tend to blame God for many of our problems in life, the truth is that our problems are often rooted in our hearts, not God’s.

As Revelation 3:20, Jesus says, “I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in.”

There is nothing more important in our lives than hearing God’s voice.

God speaks to us in many ways.

He speaks to each of us in different ways.

He is not far from us.

He knows our hearts.

He is speaking to us.

Will we have open hearts to hear what he is saying to us?

One of our main problems is that we do not instinctively “go to God” when we feel guilty, unworthy, or sinful.

Instead of seeing God as our “refuge and strength” (Psalm 46:1), we often run away and try to hide our shame from God.

But Jesus is telling us to run to God, for he will never reject us.

He will never turn away from us.

His grace and love will never be taken from us.

Psalm 145:18 is so liberating: “The Lord is near to all who call on him.”

When you are struggling with life issues, do you withdraw from God?

It is true that sometimes we will feel his presence, and other times we will not.

But this never means he has left us.

Recently, I have been so aware of how much I need to hear God’s voice.

My ongoing prayer is: “Lord, speak to me. I need to hear from you.”

We are never alone.

God is knocking on the door. Will we let him in?

Lord, help us to open our hearts to your presence!

Lord, give us ears to hear your wonderful voice!
