(Matthew 26:41) Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.
Christians are in the greatest danger when we live a life of spiritual complacency.
When we walk through life with a dullness of mind and heart; we can easily get trapped into temptation and sin.
The Christian life is a life of spiritual warfare, for Satan—our enemy—is constantly active looking for a way to trap us in temptation and sin. Satan can bring circumstances and people in our lives who can negatively influence us in the ways of this world. Satan can drop thoughts in our minds that pull us down, and bring spiritual oppression into our attitudes and actions.
As Jesus tells us in this passage, we must always be spiritually alert by watching and praying that we do not stray off the path of Jesus Christ, and fall into deception.
We must stay spiritually alert, vigilant, awake, and attuned to God’s presence and guidance.
When we become complacent, we begin to live la life of unthankfulness and bitterness because of the challenges that arise around us. As Christians, we must resist evil influences.
We must remain spiritually alert and watchful.
Are you spiritually sleep-walking through your day, unaware of your spiritual surroundings?
Let’s throw off our complacency and remain ready to fight against the spiritual darkness that can so easily crush our faith and hope in Jesus Christ.
Let’s remain alert and victorious!
