(Philippians 2:14) Do all things without complaining.
Because we live in a fallen world that is filled with fallen people, most things in life simply do not go as we would like them to go.
If we have a perfectionist mentality, our lives will constantly be filled with frustration after frustration.
We will have a tendency to complain about everything—about circumstances, people and even God.
We will simply not be satisfied with anything or anyone.
How would you like to be treated when you make mistakes?
As Christians, however, God calls us to live a lifestyle (do all things) without complaining (grumbling, murmuring, whining).
The root of complaining is within our heart.
Complaining is a habitual attitude of doom and gloom that we have allowed to take root in our spirits.
Complaining is often the fruit of a spirit of dissatisfaction and heaviness.
We cannot be full of thanksgiving and worship when we possess an attitude (spirit) of complaining.
We are only set free from a constant spirit of complaining when we lower our standards concerning what we expect from situations and other people.
Once again, we live in a fallen world that is filled with fallen people. Why would we expect anything but imperfection, mistakes, and shortcomings?
What does complaining accomplish?
Complaining will only bring on a headache, damage relationships, and grieve the Holy Spirit.
We need to focus on fixing problems, not simply complaining about things.
We must become realistic about the fallen condition of life.
When we realign our “expectations” to our fallen condition, then how we respond to life will be more filled with compassion rather than complaining.
I know this is not easy, but a lot in life is not a smooth road.
We will all experience disappointments; let’s approach them with productive solutions not complaints.
