(Philippians 3:13) Press on.

To “press on” is an athletic phrase.

Biblically, the phrase “press on” does not mean human strife and self-will power.

It means having a heart passion to spiritually grow and mature in our lives.

It means we are called to “press on” toward our future in God.

We can’t become satisfied with the status quo, and what is comfortable for us.

We must “press on” beyond what we think is good enough, just getting by in life.

When we remain in our comfort zones, we limit our growth potential. We remain spiritually static. We remain the same, year after year.

To “press on” spiritually requires that our hearts are passionate to love God and others.

We do not grow spiritually, if we do not have an internal passion to mature.

Our hearts must be filled with the Holy Spirit! We must allow God’s presence to set our hearts on fire for the kingdom of God. We can't grow and mature in our own strength.

We must “press on” beyond what we think is normal.

As Christians, we often have a very low standard of our potential to mature spiritually in Christ.

If we truly want to grow toward Christian maturity; it requires that we “push beyond” the barriers that keep us average and acceptable.

Are you settling for what is spiritually comfortable in your life?

Are you satisfied with being spiritually average?

Is your standard for spiritual growth based on what is just acceptable to others?

Or, through God’s grace, are you “pressing on” to become fully mature in Christ?
