(Proverbs 23:9) Do not speak to fools.

This is a surprising Proverb!

Aren’t we suppose to be nice to everyone and tell everyone the good news (the Gospel)? Yes we are, but this Proverb is not talking about witnessing.

A fool–a mocker–in the book of Proverbs is a person who is intentionally resistant to God and his wisdom.

I have found this Proverb to be true throughout my life and ministry, because we can waste a lot of our time trying to reason with real mockers of God. Satan brought them my way many times.

God mockerds (fools) are not open to a rational discussion about truth. They are filled with hatred for God and his followers. Their hearts are hard and filled with lies.

They live a lifestyle of unbelief and opposition.

They will reject your love and concern.

They will want to argue.

They just want to ridicule the Christian faith, and demean the followers of Jesus.

Let’s be discerning concerning the people we relationally invest time and energy in. Do not be shaken by fools, for God will deal with them in his own way.

Instead, invest your valuable time and energy in people who are truly open and searching for truth, not in fools and mockers. Mockers will simply wear you out and rob you of your time. The New Testament tells us to avoid foolish (anti-God) individuals.

During our lives, we come across many different kinds of people, but they are not all the same at the heart level. We must have wisdom and discernment. We must live life together with authentic Christians, reach out to those who are in true need, but we must also avoid those who are hard at heart and are God-haters.

Because all God-haters will also hate us as Christians, Satan uses "fools" to sow hatred, confusion, persecution, and destruction. Have nothing to do with God-hating "fools," they will only waste your time.

Be discerning.

Be wise.

Love God.

Love Others.

Hate Evil.
