(Proverbs 4:25) Keep your eyes looking straight ahead.
Where our focus is will determine the direction of our lives.
It is so easy for us to get sidetracked from walking the narrow way in following Jesus Christ.
It is so easy to chase our fantasies and emotional impulses down rabbit trails of life that lead nowhere.
There are a lot of sparkly things to our left and right that get our attention, but also lead us away from walking the simple way in following Jesus Christ.
We all need to remember that Satan manifests himself as an angel of light.
This Proverb is an exhortation to not get distracted by every new wind of teaching or modern fad that will hinder our forward focus in Jesus Christ.
We can so easily become static and stuck in our present lives but our spiritual growth is dynamic and is always forward-moving, for God is the God of hope and the God of the future.
We must not look backwards. We must press on to the future that God has for us. If we allow Satan to keep us focussed on our past—things we cannot do anything about—then our spiritual growth will stop and even decline.
Keep your eyes looking straight ahead!
Spend today mediating on this statement by the apostle Paul in Philippians 3:12–14:
“Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
Don’t allow yourself to go down the many rabbit trails in life, for they only lead you away from Jesus Christ.
Stay focussed!
Stay alert!
Please keep your eyes looking toward your future in God.
Our future is victorious in Jesus Christ!
