(Proverbs 8:17) Those who seek God will find him.

The phrase “seek God” can stir up the image of a religious game of hide-and-seek

God is hiding from us on some distant star, and we must do all kinds of religious activities in hopes of finding him.

We too often think God is so transcendent that he has little interest in a relationship with us.

However, Proverbs 8:17 tells us something completely different.

It tells us that when we “seek God”—that is, seek his presence, guidance, and wisdom—we are guaranteed to experience a relationship with him.

James 4:8 says, “Come near to God and he will come near to you.”

When we seek God in prayer, fasting, and through the Bible, it is a guaranteed promise that he will come close to us.

However, God is not interested in a half-hearted or “cheap” relationship.

We cannot expect God to reveal himself to us if we are passively sliding through our Christian lives. If you approach God as if he were Santa Claus, you will not truly experience him.

We must seek him with our whole heart. As Jeremiah 29:13 says, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

He will reveal himself to us.

We will experience his presence.

He will speak to us.

Do you understand your Christian life as daily “seeking God”?
