(Psalm 105:4) Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!

When Christians hear the phrase “seek the Lord,” we all have different images come into our minds.

Does it mean we should be hyper-emotional?

Does it mean falling on our knees in desperation?

Does it mean being afraid of God.

“Seeking the Lord” is none of these.

First of all, we are to seek his strength through his intimate presence. We are to follow and be led by the presence of the Holy Spirit’s activity within our hearts.

As we read in Psalm 25, seeking the Lord is “lifting up our soul” to God our Savior.

It is “putting our trust” in God Almighty.

It is “waiting” on the faithfulness of God.

It is asking him to “teach us his ways.”

It is “finding refuge” in his everlasting love.

Secondly, we are to continually seek the Lord.

Many Christians are puzzled when they hear this.

We say, “I am so busy in my life—how am I going to continually seek the Lord throughout my day?”

It is a process that we enter into over time and through spiritual discipline.

I encourage you to take one step at a time.

It all starts with a deep desire in your heart.

We are not talking about perfection, but a heartfelt desire for God’s immediate presence in our daily lives.

Over time, you will even be able to have a conscious awareness of God while you are busy with the daily tasks of life.

Seeking the Lord is opening up our hearts fully to the presence of the Holy Spirit’s movement in our hearts and lives.

Seek God’s presence continually, and you will enter into his strength.

Let all of us seek the Lord and his strength, and seek his presence continually!
