(Psalm 105:4) Seek the Lord continually.

When Christians hear the phrase “seek the Lord,” different images come to our minds.

Does it mean we should be hyper-emotional?

Does it mean falling on our knees in desperation?

Does it mean being afraid of God?

“Seeking the Lord” is none of these.

First of all, we are to seek His strength through the intimate presence of the Holy Spirit.

We must be led daily by the presence of the Holy Spirit and His dynamic movement within our hearts.

As we read in Psalm 25, seeking the Lord is “lifting up our soul” to God our Savior each day.

It is “putting our trust” in God Almighty each day.

It is “waiting” on the faithfulness of God each day.

It is asking Him to “teach us His ways” each day.

It is “finding refuge” in His everlasting love each day.

Secondly, we are to “continually” seek the Lord.

Many Christians are puzzled when they hear the word “continually.”

We say, “God can’t really mean this?”

We say, “I’m so busy in my life! How am I going to ‘continually’ seek the Lord?”

Let’s stop making excuses and live up to what God says is possible.

“Seeking the Lord continually” is a process that we can enter into over time through spiritual discipline.

I encourage you to take one step at a time.

It all starts with a deep desire in your heart.

Over time, we develop a continuous, conscious awareness of God, even in the midst of the daily tasks of life.

“Seeking the Lord continually” means opening our hearts fully to the presence and movement of the Holy Spirit each day and throughout the day.

Do you “seek the Lord continually”?

Or do you divide your life into your secular life and your spiritual life?

Do you just seek the Lord on Sundays when you go to church?

As we grow into maturity, we are able to seek the Lord each day and all day.
