(James 2:23) A friend of God.

I have been reflecting recently on the wonderful truth that we can have a deep, personal friendship with God.

In James 2:23, Abraham is called a "friend of God."

In 2 Chronicles 20:7, Abraham is described as God's "friend forever."

And in Isaiah 41:8, God calls Abraham, "My friend."

Exodus 33:11 tells us that "the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend."

These passages clearly reveal that God desires to have a genuine, relational friendship with us.

It means having an authentic and transparent relationship with God—a relationship in which we can be open and honest with Him, knowing that a true friend always listens with compassion.

God's heart is to be our friend.

He desires us to come to Him and speak with Him as we would a loving friend.

What an incredible thought!

Think about having such an intimate relationship with Almighty God.

In John 15:13–15, Jesus calls His disciples friends. He says, "Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends."

Can your relationship with God be described as a friendship?

Are you afraid of God?

Do you believe you must be perfect and flawless to have a friendship with Him?

Let us begin to speak to God as our eternal Friend—the One who will never leave us or forsake us.

Let's change the way we think about Jesus.

Let's approach Him as a Friend who is deeply concerned about every challenge and struggle we face.

Jesus wants to walk with us as our Friend.

Do you?
