(Romans 8:1) Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

When we were outside of Jesus Christ—living in rebellion, hard-hearted, and in unbelief—we lived under the eternal judgment of God. We lived under God’s eternal condemnation.

Our inner lives were dominated and bound up by the power of sin—not just bad behavior—that enslaved our hearts and thoughts, our way of thinking.

Our condemned condition was our own choice, it was not because God is mean.

However, as Roman 8:1 tells us, when we surrender and put our trust in Jesus Christ, the power of the Holy Spirit sets us free from our spiritual enslavement under the power of sin.

Through God’s grace, we no longer live under the condemnation of eternal judgement. We no longer have to bear the burden of continual guilt and shame.

We have been set free! We did not set ourselves free, God did it all for us out of his love.

Those who fully surrender their lives and future to God, no longer live under the heavy condition of eternal condemnation.

We will at times fall short in our Christian faith and walk and feel convicted, but this does not mean that our security in God has changed.

Satan will come along, and try to convince us that God did not really “save” us. I ask you: If God no longer condemns us, why do we allow ourselves or Satan condemn us?

Yes, we must all continue to grow in our faith, but we too often condemn ourselves because we don’t “feel” like we are good enough—a form of impossible perfectionism.

In Jesus Christ—through his life, death, and resurrection—we are no longer, or will ever be, eternally condemned.

We have been forgiven!

We have been set free!

Believe it and live it everyday!
